How to find a mentor

How to find a mentor

1. Go to Discover › Mentors.
2. Type an industry or job in Industry or job and press Enter, or choose a City or Language.

Mentors in the industry on your profile come first, then those in your city, so add both in Settings › Profile. If you choose Finding a mentor under Open to there, Mavuno also suggests mentors to you.

How to ask for mentoring

1. Select Ask next to the mentor's name.
2. Choose what you'd like help with.
3. Write who you are, what you're working towards and what you're asking for. Ask for one conversation to start, such as a 30-minute call or a few messages.
4. Select Send.

It arrives as a message request, so you can send one message until they accept. If they decline, you aren't told, and you can ask someone else.

How to offer to mentor

1. Go to Settings › Profile.
2. Under Open to, choose Mentoring others. Add your occupation, company and industry so people in your field find you.
3. Select Save changes.

You're listed once you've been a member for a week, while you take messages from everyone and Show me in Nearby, Mentors and suggestions is on in Settings › Privacy. Members finding a mentor may see you in their suggestions too.

To take a break, take Mentoring others off. If five requests are waiting on you, you're off the list until you answer or decline one.
